I love dark chocolate.  I wanted to approach the minimalist style to bring the viewer's focus to the subject, nothing else.  I used mostly natural light from the left and added a slight fill light for the face of the chocolate to show off the texture.  I intentionally left a bit of chocolate on the negative space.  Don't you thin, it gives you a space to think deeper about the chocolate?  It's a little bit of Wabi-Sabi. Ha, I'm always a Japanese even living in the US for 25 years.  Thank you, Foodelia for another award.

I prepared very thin pancakes and stuffed them with yogurt and sliced strawberries.  Next, the syrup was poured over them to make them even sweeter.

I helped my self with a model light with a snoot and I finally got a shot that made me happy.  A delicious rosewater gin tonic garnished with strawberries and red berries, this made my day a happy day.

Strawberry season! I love to visit local farmers to get a couple of buckets with these tasty red pearls. Sweet and soft, applicable in cakes like the one on the picture. You can almost taste the freshness just by looking at this photo!

I re-created a still-life painting by artist Javier Mulio for a drinks photography challenge. It was both fun and challenging trying to recreate the mood and lighting. A nice surprise was capturing the tiny droplet suspended in mid-air. A case of art imitating life imitating art!

I had some gorgeous artisan raspberry jam leftover from a shoot for a local business.  I had this image in my head but had never made peanut butter bars before.  To my astonishment they didn't fall apart upon cutting them (tip - use a really hot knife and slice from chilled).  I used natural light for this shot, something I'm not overly comfortable with.  I'm a control freak and prefer strobes.  I love how the light catches the jam and the simplicity of the colour palette.  They were a delight to eat afterward too.

Handcrafted in the Mary Valley @maryvalleyfoodco pick fruit from small scale farmers and dries them. I use their dried fruits in a lot of my propping but today their lemon took centre stage as it’s just too beautiful on it’s own not to zoom into.

I created this image for a silver color collaboration I participated in on Instagram. I thought it would be a super simple shot, as the composition is minimal. However, it turns out that straight-edged bottles are extremely hard to photograph. It took a lot of manipulation and a lot of readjustment of lights to get the bottle lit properly.

I used this ingredients for ice pops. I brought everything to the table and they looked so beautiful together. Again, purple and yellow are colors that do well together. I just was there and took the picture of something that is naturally beautiful. I love the tiny shiny specular light in the blackberries.

This photo was taken in the very famous vegetarian Restaurant in Vienna called TIAN.  Its Chef de Cuisine, Paul Ivić is very famous in the Austrian vegetarian and vegan scene. Actually, we shot all the dishes from above. This dish fascinated me in its simplicity and at the same time in the exciting arrangement of the ingredients when seen from the frontal perspective.

Schools of fish swimming in unison are so fascinating, so here is my take on a school of fish diving down into the ocean, away from the light.
