This image was taken during Fig season, I love the shape and texture of Figs, and wanted to highlight this delicious Fig and Pistachio Cake. Using layers of wood, linen and textured background with a branch of foliage leaning into the frame adding interest.
80th CollectionThis is a delicious Blue Matcha Chia Pudding milled from Butterfly Pea Flowers and topped with a chocolate mousse and blueberries. Using different textures such as wood, linen creates layers that draw interest.
78th CollectionThis is my homemade Blue Matcha Ice Cream. I used dried Butterfly Pea Flowers, removed the stems, milled the flowers and created Blue Matcha powder to use in the recipe. It has a very different taste and there is something satisfying about creating something unique from scratch. I scattered the Butterfly Pea Flowers in the scene and placed the spoon diagonally to draw the viewer to the bowl where the hero food sits. This was shot with a very large aperture and natural light.
77th CollectionDelicious waffles with pomegranate seeds, berries, and maple syrup and a little bit of chocolate on the side the only decision left is whether to serve them with ice cream or yoghurt. The lines in the image leads the viewer around the frame taking in all the details, from the texture of the frozen berries to multiple forks indicating that this image is part of a larger scene, perhaps a table with more people and more waffles!
76th CollectionI love capturing the unusual and when I found this Chocolate Bubble Wrap recipe it was a perfect fit for a delicious chocolate mousse garnished with raspberries. The the pots and plate added texture and a cool colour palette to the image.
74th CollectionThis is a delicious Pandan Cake made in a Chiffon Tin with a simple drip glaze and pistachio topping. The use of negative space helps draw the viewer to the visual weight of the cake. The detail of the cake and the fabric base is highlighted by lovely soft natural side light.
73rd CollectionI love the smell of freshly grated nutmeg... I use it in desserts, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes. It really is a versatile aromatic spice!
71st CollectionI believe storytelling is truly important in food photography. When constructing this Pavlova tower, the detail of the meringues and berries were beautiful as they were so when I built the background layers I wanted to ensure the colours and composition did not distract from the main subject, rather draw your eye to it.
70th CollectionThis is my homemade Butterscotch Panna Cotta and Honeycomb. The round moulds of the Panna Cotta inspired me to create a composition of circles to draw the eye around the frame. I had edible flowers growing in the garden which provided a perfect Analogous colour combination for this image. Photographed in natural light and placed on my grey textured homemade backdrop, I think this really makes the subject stand out.
