Charred tender pieces of octopus bathed in a lemon herbed garlic aioli is a Mediterranean inspired dish which I adore very much. It is served with a side of watermelon, chickpea and feta cheese salad.
Avocado Toasts are super trending in San Diego right now. Found this version of the toast with nicely scented truffle oil and micro greens at the new Hillcrest spot 'Refill Cafe'. Not only was this toast super flavorful, but also offered enough colors & lighting textures for an awesome click.
Macarons at Claudine Kitchen & Bakeshop in Encino, California. This was part of an entire bakery spread set up for the photo shoot. It initially started as a fun experiment with shallow depth of field, but the client liked the effect. Shot wide open to isolate the macarons from the other baked goods. It was one of the best smelling photo shoots ever!

Something typically german? For sure it's Black Forrest Cake. I took the flavours like, cherries, chocolate and cherry brandy and made a delicious icecream with it. The creamiest chocolate icecream temptation, I have ever had.

This is a hand crafted martini created by craft mixologist Tara Salinas. Ingredients include vodka, raspberry pureè, sparkling blood orange juice, a candied orange and a rim of movie blood; which is corn syrup and red food coloring. This particular cocktail is from a series of drinks that were themed after each season of "American Horror Story". This beverage is a representation of season 5 "Hotel". In this Betrchinno piece, each thing was lovingly chosen. A book from my beautiful mother, a blanket of my gorgeous roommate that keeps me cozy and safe at night, a rose from a lover, a leaf, from my temple.
To me, all these things also represent change, changing of a season, changing of relationships... and that even in change and death, there can be comfort and beauty. And course the recipe itself is a culmination of all this love and care (and it is AMAZING).
