Place in Lithuania
I remember the day when I shot this scene. It was a really very sunny day and I have south fasing windows, so the light is very strong. It’s not easy to work with such conditions but limiting the amount of light sometimes works like a charm and gives that beautiful contrast.
I made this gorgeous Ukrainian cheese casserole (called “syrna zapikanka”) for a donation initiative. Didn’t have a certain plan how I’ll shoot this dish, but blue and yellow colors seemed just the right way. The last minutte I’ve noticed my doughter’s brooch with the flag of Ukraine. It’s one of my ways of showing support during this painful time.
Who wouldn’t like to spend a lazy weekend morning or afternoon with a piece of tasty curd, white chocolate, raspberry and mandarin cake?
I captured a tiny bit of door to frame and narrow the scene and make the subject pop.
French confectionery is something that deserves those long hours (not hours, really, but well... even days) to make a cake. When you taste it, you can tell the difference. French cakes are amazing and I feel proud of myself for making this delicious and beautiful chocolate and black currant Entremet.
Also this image illustrates well my pseudonym as "Dar_kasneli" in Lithuanian means "Another bite" :)
A fast shot of my dinner which indicates how much I long for the warm season and colors of it. I've chosen quite shallow depth of field for this flatlay to blur the flowers and give more depth to the scene and colder-toned backdrop as a balance for colorful salad and drinks.
Family time with a gluten-free pizza and an image showing how you can fix food that doesn’t look so well. The cheese looked a little bit over-cooked and dry on this pizza, but styling with some burrata and rucola on top changed the look and the taste got much better too.
I made the same image with a burning candle and a blown out one. I think the smoke of a candle gives that extra softness to this image. Relation between the shutter speed and f stop I’ve chosen helped to capture the smoke a little bit blurry yet sharp enough.
