Hi, I'm Therese. I'm a freelance food and product photographer living in Melbourne, Australia.
Originally from the U.K., I worked as a fashion designer in London, Hong Kong and Australia. In 2012 I ceased running my own fashion brand to focus on my photography career. I've lived in Melbourne for over twenty years and I'm constantly excited by it's vibrant, multicultural food scene. There are so many amazing restaurants and such fabulous produce here.
My work is inspired by the beauty in food's natural shapes and colours, and by the emotion and drama that can be evoked through light and shadow.
I've worked on shoots for restaurants, magazines, e-commerce stores, websites and social media content to bring clients' visions to life, and I love creative collaboration and teamwork.

I love working with hard light and dramatic shadows. The light on the walnuts makes my heart skip a beat. I'm so lucky that my client gives me full creative license.
I had so much fun working on this image with stylist Emily Raffaele and chef Rachel Knight. We recreated outdoor summer vibes in the middle of winter in the studio, using vibrant colors and sparkling highlights and shadows. Shot for Sugar-Free Living by Natvia magazine.
I love the excitement of a 'splash' shot. This is my first go at once, and I thought I'd add a shadow to the mix for extra action! It was heaps of fun, and a lot of clearing up, but so worth it.
I re-created a still-life painting by artist Javier Mulio for a drinks photography challenge. It was both fun and challenging trying to recreate the mood and lighting. A nice surprise was capturing the tiny droplet suspended in mid-air. A case of art imitating life imitating art!
I created this image for a drinks photography challenge. I've always been fascinated by this type of lighting, and it was a real challenge working out how to light the different parts of the wine and the glass, whilst keeping the background dark.
I love working with backlighting - the stunning shine and glossy highlights it produces on these marinating mushrooms. This was shot for a tableware company, to show off their beautiful bowls.
I shot these gorgeous poached pears for a magazine and it made the front cover. I love the intense color and the shine of the syrup against the bright neutral setting.
I shot this cocktail for a photography challenge. My aim was to capture the night time vibes and the drama of the shadow and the smoking rosemary garnish.
This was the first crop of the season of gorgeous, jewel-like tomatoes from my back yard. Picked in the pouring rain - aren't the rain droplets beautiful! They look so dramatic in this deep navy bowl that sets off the colours so well.
I was going for a clean lined, contemporary feel when I took this shot of my dinner. I was also playing with colour theory using analogous greens with a pop of complimentary opposite red. Photography nerd at work!
