While I was taking some olives out of a jar meant for a drinks shot, I had the idea for this setup. It is a little bit different than my usual, simplicity-focused style but I truly enjoyed shooting it as it was totally improvised. The rocks came from a flower deco, the twigs from a mini olive tree in my garden and the olives ended up as a snack.
69th CollectionWhole sea bass on black. I had some very smelly photo shoots that week with fish that wasn’t as fresh as it appeared initially. This fish however was as fresh as it looks like on the image, no smell. I like the contrast between the silvery fish and the black set-up. The green herbs didn’t only add colour to the picture but also added flavor to the fish when baked in a salt crust eventually.
67th CollectionPerfectly ripe raspberries and their reflection on black. I did not use any props as they would have distracted the viewer from the beauty of the subjects.
67th CollectionClose-up of a freshly boiled mussel on black background. The golden yellow of both the flesh and outer shell contrasts the blue-ish hue of the inner shell perfectly.
67th CollectionMatcha tea waffles. The subtle bitterness of the matcha tea powder contrasts the sweetness of the waffles and fruits which makes it a surprisingly light and elegant dessert.
Moules à la crème, mussels with cream and white wine. Simple and delicious - but not too pretty, hence I decided to take close-up.
66th CollectionBok Choy, very healthy, very green and even more photogenic. I love the seemingly chaotic way its leaves are arranged which gives the image a very mystical look.
65th CollectionThis lobster tail impressed me with its colour and near perfect shape.
It’s like a piece of art and doesn’t need any props which, in my opinion, would only distract from its natural beauty.
And I was lucky enough to get to eat this piece of beauty after the photo shoot...
