One Hundred and Eighteenth Collection

Shot for Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur’s exclusive mooncake collection, this image merges heritage with modern luxury. Using dramatic lighting against a deep red backdrop, the composition draws attention to the intricate mooncake design and the refined packaging. The clean, minimalist aesthetic reflects the brand’s sophisticated identity while honoring the cultural significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival. As a food photographer based in Malaysia, I aimed to balance cultural storytelling with elegant visual execution to elevate this festive creation.

This image captures the luxurious essence of fine dining, freezing the exact moment truffle shavings fall onto a meticulously plated dish. Shot with controlled lighting to enhance texture, motion, and contrast, the composition draws attention to the vibrant yolk, delicate garnishes, and the rich texture of fresh truffle. As a food photographer based in Malaysia, my goal was to highlight the artistry behind premium ingredients and translate culinary craftsmanship into a visually indulgent experience.

Two layered desserts with blackberries, lemon slices, and mint leaves are served on a rustic table alongside cups of tea and coffee, creating a delightful teatime scene

This photo of a salad goes beyond appearance. It speaks of effort, of ingredients chosen with care, of taste and timing, and of the invisible steps that lead to the plate.
When we bring the human element into food photography, we’re not only capturing a dish, we’re capturing a story, an experience.
So next time you point your camera at a plate, pause and ask: What’s really happening here? Who stands behind it, and who will this food reach?

Creating a dark and moody, natural light feel in a very bright restaurant was the request. Prior to the shoot I had discussed with the food stylist, Deta, about what my vision was and how it fit with the client's brief. And did he ever deliver. In our little section of the client location he set up the scene and left me to light it.

Captured in natural directional light, this shot highlights the elegance and craftsmanship behind Vantador’s modern steakhouse cuisine. With a focus on texture, depth, and refined plating, the image showcases a luxurious surf-and-turf presentation that reflects the restaurant’s Michelin-level precision. Shot on location to preserve the authentic ambiance of the space.

This strawberry sorbet with milk kefir and basil, generously topped with melted dark chocolate, was created for Food Art Digital online magazine.
The theme I explored was a summer scene indoors. In food photography, translating the warmth and vibrancy of summer into an image isn’t always simple, especially when you’re not shooting on location or don’t have access to a garden or terrace.
That’s where creativity, light, and thoughtful composition step in to bring the feeling of sunshine into the studio.

Working with a great stylist, Deta, we were tasked by our client to create a "French bistro" vibe not in the client's restaurant, which was still under construction, but in one of their marina themed restaurants. For this image the client asked for something more punchy and hard light was the way to go.

Plain gluten-free bread might look simple, almost ordinary. But give it a little love, and it transforms into something magical: golden French toast, soft on the inside, slightly crisp on the outside, crowned with fresh, juicy fruit and a delicate snowfall of powdered sugar.
What was once just bread becomes a sweet moment of comfort and indulgence, proof that even the simplest ingredients can tell a delicious story when treated with care.
