Fifty-Seventh Collection

This grey moody photography was made for a client who wants to expose a refreshing drink with his herbs and spices. The photo was made using natural window light.

I was making golden milk to boost my immune system during corona-lockdown here in Norway. The colors were too vibrant not to be captured in a photo. Natural lighting used.

I wanted to create a photograph of just a cup of coffee since it is usually just the background of a food photo. I decided to make it very simple so your eye goes directly to the subject. The black mug was photographed on top of a piece of black plexiglass to display the mirrored image of the cup. The steam was added in Photoshop.

Sticky Toffee Butter Popcorn, the perfect treat for a family night.

When you run out of fresh food at home, it's easy to turn to beautiful spices like these cinnamon sticks! I have always wanted to shoot cinnamon sticks, but never expected the final image to look like this. I really embraced the warm colors for this shot, and I am happy with how it came out, in the end.

This shoot was a particular favourite of mine as a case study success story. The clients are really nice people and very hard workers. Though they hadn't embraced the importance of marketing, or online booking systems. Spending money on a big shoot and a new website was a real leap of faith for them, though they took our suggestions on board, took a 'risk' with the low-key lighting style (as opposed to the over-used high-key lighting for most seafood restaurants) and gained brand differentiation.
They also gained a 40 fold increase in their online bookings within two months of their campaign and site launch and are now positioned to sell their business with very healthy-looking books. A very happy ending! :-)

This shot was made in a tiny Viennese restaurant called STEWER - the dishes are photographed in the typical surrounding of this restaurant. So automatically you'll also go with the feeling of being there.

A rustic & moody shot of blueberries - shot with a soft diffused light source to mimic window lighting. Colour Palette - blue & brown with dark accents.

My First Vegan & Gluten-free Chocolate tart with a blend of nuts and Persian spices sprinkle over the chocolate. For this image looking for a minimalist style, I create my own backdrop to match the color palette of the ingredients.

You tell stories with composition and light, don't be afraid of shadows, the light exists because the shadow exists. All these mixtures can talk by themselves.

Where I'm from, cups can really fly! Seriously, all I had to do in the post was to get rid of the wings... ;) Funny enough, the hardest thing about this shot was getting a good looking splash. Who knows the feeling of 'oh one more try' when doing splash shots, and 'the next one is going to be it!'?

I photographed this steak dinner on location at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The steak is accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes. This meal was styled by Amy Villareale.

Colorful strawberry Macarons...The outer shell is crisp, the inner cookie is slightly chewy, with a creamy filling.

I created this image as part of my very first stop motion animation a week or so ago. The lighting took a while to get right, as I was using a blue gel, and needed that "A" to shine through, and also get all of the highlights just right on the bottle. A tough one to set up, but I think I accomplished what I was going for.

I love back-lighting my images to capture the most challenging of aspects on a dish, such as the thin streak of black sauce drizzled here across the black plate. Back-lighting accentuates texture to great effect in this way, allowing photographers to capture the most elusive of aspects within a dish.

Showing the interaction of the ingredients is beautiful even more when a liquid is in it and with the combination with light the possibilities are infinite to tell a story.

I took this photo as part of a spice collab on Instagram. This is one of my favourite teas, made with cardamom, aniseed, fennel seeds, and coriander. Shot with a naked speedlight. The biggest challenge here was to get the angle just right to make the drink glow and the shadow reflecting the glow.

Blueberries and chocolate, a perfect combination...

I chose to incorporate some of the restaurant's decor into the background of this shot, as the colour palette complimented the dish and it helped to establish that sense of fine dining.

Let's just say one thing about this picture... I'm not as good a tomato tosser as I thought I was. Still finding tomatoes in weird places three weeks later... :D
