Forty-Ninth Collection
Biltong, a South African classic!
Air cured meat marinated with South African herbs and spices. Also a great source of Vitamin B12 too.
Rainy day is perfect for a chocolate loaf. This is a delicious and moist vegan chocolate banana bread that can be eaten at any time of the day with a cup of tea.
Who knew that literally throwing jugs of water at a glass bottle could create those types of splashes? This was loads of fun to shoot, all-be-it a big clean up after. The final image with the shots became a large composite, as this was shot for the most part one light at a time.
My local restaurant @thegroundkitchen opened on the same day as when we moved to Hong Kong - after getting to know chef Keith and his wife Ting Ting I can’t even remember how the topic of taking photos came up but I knew I couldn’t turn it down!
Healthy fresh salad is useful throughout the year. It's made with aroma cherry tomatoes, arugula, spinach, and pine nuts, all served with olive oil and spices. Flying ingredients shows the airiness of the salad.
Delicious fresh Moroccan mint tea. the drops are a nice detail, it gives the photo wow effect. I used a Nikon D90 and a flashlight.
Dolce tipico leccese, il Mustacciolo. Serviva un aspetto molto rustico e casereccio per esaltarne la sua soffice croccantezza.
Realizzata per “La Cotognata Leccese”
The great Australian Barramundi. My client flew a chef up from Sydney to Brisbane, solely to fillet this cut perfectly. With its cold firmness and color maintained, it's freshness is undeniably apparent and just the tempting look that my client asked for.
I'm really happy with the character of light crafted for this shot, which I intended to subtly mimmick oceanic ripples while maintaining an even light on the actual fish itself.
Food styling: Pete May.
Studio gear used: Bowens 500W (2 heads), keylight flagged with a custom flag, large softbox fill and 1x bounce card.
A classic with a twist - Egg & Soldiers with Launceston Place's Victorian interior
By chef @benmurphychef @launcestonplace London
Strawberry sorbet with Blueberries that is creamy, refreshing, vibrant in color and flavored with a little added liqueur.
This red pear was the perfect, well-behaved subject. I had so much fun using a reflective surface and water to make it look like it was floating. I also tried for the first time double diffusing the light from the back, creating that beautiful silhouette!
Questo scatto è stato realizzato per il calendario 2020 di “Lepore Mare”, azienda leader in Italia in distribuzione ittica.
Per questo genere di scatti fotografici occorre tanta pazienza e una buona visione del risultato finale già in fase di ripresa.
Thank you chef Victor Garvey @solasoho for always creating beautiful dishes which are a joy to take pictures of!
Sea bream Crudo
This chocolate cake sat in my house for days until I could find time to shoot it. None of the chocolate chips wanted to fall at the right time, but it was a fun sticky mess. Also, this was the first time I introduced gels (the blue light) into my photography!
This is probably one of my most favorite photos that I have taken. The mood of this shot takes you to a whole other world, and yet, the bright colors and beautiful texture of this autumn Brussels sprout salad shines!
This was lit with a speed-light using an octagon umbrella, and the backdrop was lit using a snoot.
