Pasta Carbonara is a fiercely protected Roman dish. Despite its iconic status, its modern, strict recipe of only guanciale, egg, Pecorino Romano, and black pepper .
One image from a whole series of water images I have been producing for this craft distillery. This is a single shot that required loads of planning, a great sense of timing, a fair heaping of experience plus some creative post production. Before the sauce, before the final plate, there is a moment of pure simplicity—the raw ingredients, the texture, and the anticipation of what is about to be created.

A local brewery, their design and presentation I very much respect.. a clean and classic graphic design with a sense of typography I admire. I also quite enjoy their product.
Sometimes a still life is less about the ingredients and more about how they relate to one another. This composition is an exploration of balance, shape, and texture.
Behind every beautiful dish is a story of dedication, sacrifice, and countless hours of hard work.
I have always been fascinated by the passion and commitment that live behind the scenes—the quiet moments, the precision, and the hands that transform simple ingredients into unforgettable experiences.
I was honored to capture this moment with Chef Jordan Arcuri from Origen, a new restaurant in Dunedin, Florida, where his creativity and devotion to her craft come to life with every plate.
I have been looking more deeply into the whole process of food and have been looking for opportunities to photograph various processes of food gathering, growing and preparation.. not just the end result of serving of final dishes. These mackerel presented a small element in that story that I very much wanted to explore.
