Canele are typically served warm, and are often enjoyed as a sweet treat with coffee or tea. They can be found in bakeries and patisseries throughout France, and are a staple of the Bordeaux culinary scene.
Have you tried the best pizza at Casa Nostra pizzeria @casanostrariga in Riga? It's time to fix it. This pizza is on the Margherita base with Mozzarella di Bufala DOC cheese, rucola and cherry tomatoes.
Linzer cookies filled with a homemade apricot and vanilla jam. I like taking my food pictures my own way, without (m)any props. This applies to Christmas cookies as well. The black background brings out the bright orange of the jam and the icing sugar adds a bit wintery touch to it.
Photographing drinks is not as easy as it looks. It requires skill and technique. But however long and difficult the process is, it is the kind of photographs I enjoy taking the most.

This dish is part of the fall menu of high-end caterer Famous Flavours from The Netherlands. Chef Jasper Gronert made this tasty dish with the very special Marigold eggs.
I created this macaron set up for a recent branding photoshoot where I wanted to show a few different, behind the scenes - work in progress sets in my studio.
The original plan was to use window light, but this final image was shot with artificial lights due to the quickly darkening afternoons here in Scotland.
I just wanted to produce a better photo than the ones available on the website. I saw them and thought, "c'mon, you can see the softboxes on that!"
I shot the gin bottle in this cool environment of concentric circles and I took my sweet time to choose one of the endless options in product photography and post-processing, and the concept finally boiled down to this result so I executed my vision. I decided to utilise some illustrations to create the feeling of looking outside and seeing the silhouette of galloping deer in the forest.
A bright and airy action shot of almond croissants. Motion frozen with flash which was pointed at a white wall and bounced back onto the scene.
Client work for Peet's Coffee. New packaging photography, for their organic coffee beans. Part of a Series to photograph the whole packaging lineup.
This photo was taken as part of the product styling session for a client featuring their Burrata cheese and showing off the surprise moment when you cut into it with fresh cream bursting out of it.
This is a Cherry Sponge decorated with Lady Fingers in a Still Life scene with a holiday theme colour composition. I lit the background in addition to the lamp and used a softbox to light the scene from different angles.
This stunning Kumquat and Thyme Cocktail is simple, unfussy, and elegant. Kumquats and thyme get muddled together with a dash of honey then shaken with vodka and ice until chilled. A splash of ginger beer adds effervescence, sweetness and slight spice to create a dimensional and crowd-pleasing citrus vodka cocktail.
Food for Christmas, food that has always had the power to unite and nourish us, food that reveals us, through the pleasure of sharing it with loved ones, food that has a history and a symbolic meaning linked to local traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation. Food as a gift...
I try to challenge myself to photograph brioche in another way. I was trying several compositions in flatlay, but finally I went in last shots for the version with cut slices and sugar dusting. It was a right decision.
It was a thrill to work with @butchergirlalison to create a series of images for Black Opal Waygu. Collaboration with outstanding producers and progressive brand ambassadors is one of the great joys of food photography. As always I am so honoured to be part of the Fodelia community.
Pigeon peas being peeled from the pods after the harvest. I wanted to create a moody shot here using a single light source which would allow contrasting shadows and look more dramatic and vintage.
Beverege pictures, The London N.1 it is all of the components that give The London Nº 1 its singular character - the quality of the ingredients, the distillation method, the colour and the bottle's design.
Distilled in small batches in the heart of London, this gin's unique flavour is the result of the quality of the raw ingredients used, as well as its distillation in Pot Stills.
Hot chocolate, the best warming drink during chilly season, a great natural source of an important mineral- magnesium. Captured with a natural light.
With just 1 flash on the right with octa I made this picture. I added some water on the bottem for a little reflection. I shot this wineglass image fir a company who sells wineglasses. I make a nice setting with some red fruit and red leaves.
Yet another tea time image of a winter morning, probably mom was at my home and she wanted me to bake a chocolate cake which she loves to take with her mid morning tea!
Natural lighting on a gorgeous marbled bar top in the bright shimmering sunshine. This cocktail is an apple pie martini with a sugar rim.
Chocolate mini pies to kick off the Holiday season, on a cool and windy December day. Chocolate pie topped with whip cream and dusted with dutch processed cocoa powder.
Some brownies for the festive season . Added some drama to the scene by doing a cocoa dusting . Shot in natural light against a west facing window.
Since culinary photography became a passion, and after many years of graphic design work, illustration and painting, I felt like going back to the basics of the Fine Arts and appreciating, more than ever, the art of still life. This image is part of a "clair-obscur" baroque-style series featuring produce cultivated in the surroundings of our region, or straight from the garden. These are organically grown globe artichokes simply styled in a basket, with a cloth. This was just an extra shot after finalising a much more complex shoot. Sometimes simplicity just wins out.
I call this “Christmas in Italy..Nothing beats roasted chestnuts coming out of your oven, colorful Christmas pasta and of course, don’t forget to deck it with boughs of holly!
